
The state of Tennessee is increasing its seat belt fine. Currently, the state has one of the lowest fines in the country for a violation of the seat belt law. The first violation is $10 while the second offense is $20. Starting next year, the fine will increase to $25 for the first offense and $50 for any additional violation. That will bring Tennessee in line with neighbors such as Arkansas and Mississippi, which both have a $25 fine for seat belt tickets. Texas has one of the most punitive fines,…
